Instructors

Hi, I’m Jasmine! I am a senior nursing student and a yoga instructor here at the rec. I’ve been on a self healing journey for about five years now and yoga has been a significant aspect of my progress. I strive to create a safe space for others to heal with me through their yoga practice because I have personally experienced the benefits. My classes are beginner friendly and I find it important to create a relaxing ambiance with help of music and lighting. For my class format, I utilize the practice of yin yoga, which is slow paced and consists of more intensive stretches that are held for longer periods of time which allows the breath to aid in the deepening of each stretch. I learn more and more with each class that I teach and my goal is to inspire a restorative energy for the mind, body, and soul that my students can carry with them throughout their week.

I am a Senior Math major. I was a dance major and enjoyed fitness. Once I stopped dancing I needed to continue with another form of movement which was fitness. I took spin classes last semester and immediately found that other movement. I truly was captivated each time that I wanted to teach it! I am so motivated to share spin with you all!

I have always loved moving to music and getting active in my school’s sports teams, be it basketball, volleyball, and softball! I’d watch YouTube dance fitness videos in highschool, and really enjoyed the idea that fun dances could be an excellent and engaging way to exercise! Once I came to MSU, I participated in various Group Exercises classes, and knew that this was the type of career I would love to go into! Since my junior year, I have been creating routines for my new position in the fitness department in the rec center. Now working as the dance fitness instructor for over a year, I’ve come to enjoy the routine creating process, the teaching process, and the ability to help others engage more in the rec center, and find ways to better their health through my classes!

I have since gotten my CPT, and am excited to stretch my instructing ability to personal training, to better help those who are looking for a fun and structured exercise, and learn new ways to improve themselves and their confidence in the gym!

Hi everyone!  My name is Bella and I am a junior majoring in business.  My hobbies include lifting, sewing, and I also run my own business called CollegeBarbiee so check it out if you need some custom gear.  I got into fitness after attending my first cycling class when I was in 8th grade and since then I knew I was destined to be an instructor!  I can’t wait to see all of you in my classes! This is going to be an AMAZING semester!

Year: Junior

Major: Exercise Science

I got into fitness because of Soccer and Tennis. I got into weightlifting around 2021 because of my attempt to lose fat. I know firsthand what it’s like to struggle with weight loss, as I lost 55 pounds myself. I’m passionate about helping others reach their goals and live healthier lives. I know that there is a lot of information online, but it can be difficult to know what is accurate and what is not. I can help you find the correct information to help you reach your goals.

Hi everyone, I’m Suzy! I am a communication and media studies major along with a business minor and it’s my senior year. From a very young age, sports and athletics have always interested me. I currently play for the Montclair State Women’s Club Soccer Team and as a Group X fitness instructor, I teach Zumba, Cycling, and Kickboxing. My number one goal is to create a comfortable, safe environment for my students. I am here to push you to reach your fitness goals while having fun and enjoying exercise!

My name is Liz (they/them/theirs) and I am studying to become an English teacher, earning my masters in teaching students with disabilities, continuing to pursue a fitness career too. Throughout my experience from tutoring over seven different classes, I have fallen in love with the art of teaching. For my senior year, I knew I wanted to try a new method of teaching, so why not teach my passion on the side: pilates. Four years ago I tore my ACL and meniscus during a high school soccer game, in the last minute of the game. My recovery included learning how to walk again. I was not in the best mindset and proceeded to swear off exercising after my 100th physical therapy visit. A year later I realized this was not making me feel any better, I needed to find my way back into fitness, but I didn’t know how. I started with pilates and yoga, and the rest is history. Pilates improves our strength, flexibility, body alignment, balance, and coordination so, see you in the next class.

Hello everyone, my name is Ashley! I am a senior majoring in communications and media studies. I love hiking and listening to country music. It has always been a dream of mine to become a fitness instructor and I can’t wait to meet all of you!

Hi my name is Faith! I have a BS/MS in Nutrition and Food Science with a minor in Sports Nutrition. Currently, I am a dietetic intern at Montclair State University in pursuit of a career as a Registered Dietitian. I am an ACE certified personal trainer and a certified yoga instructor. This year I will be teaching cycling, barbell, and yoga. For each format, I work to create an experience that will leave each participant of my class feeling strong and empowered. I hope that my classes will inspire others to begin or continue their own fitness journey and discover a format of fitness that makes exercising enjoyable for them!

Here’s a short video showcasing our classes!
