Counseling Licensure

The Department of Counseling and Educational Leadership at Montclair State University offers courses that meet the requirements for licensure as a professional counselor in the state of New Jersey. The requirements for a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey is 60 credits in a master's or doctoral degree program, three years of supervised full-time experience (of which one year can be obtained prior to graduation with the Master's degree), and a passing score on the National Counselor Examination of the Board of Certified Counselors.
