ECEL 528: Early Childhood Curriculum and Assessment in Inclusive Settings
In this course, students articulate and discuss developmentally appropriate practice and engage in reflective curriculum planning. They plan an integrated unit that incorporates state standards, differentiated instructional strategies, and appropriate adaptations for students with diverse learning styles and interests, students with disabilities, and English Language Learners. Students critically investigate issues related to their teaching and learning experiences focusing on inclusion practices, authentic assessment, classroom management, and culturally responsive teaching. They engage in thoughtful and active reflection on their teaching beliefs and teacher professionalism in inclusive early childhood classrooms.
