HLTH 504: Behavioral and Social Science in Health

In this course, students develop knowledge and skills needed to understand community, individual, and organizational behaviors and change processes in cross-cultural settings as a foundation for planning culturally appropriate public health education programs. Students learn about social theories of health behaviors, and behavioral and social interventions that can promote healthy behaviors and therefore decrease morbidity and premature mortality; and develop skills for planning and evaluating health education and health promotion programs. Students apply knowledge, practice skills, enhance computer literacy, and improve oral and written communication skills. 3 hours lecture.

Prerequisites: Restricted to Public Health w/conc in Community Health Education (PUBC) MPH majors only.
