HLTH 604: Internship
1 - 3 SH
Students work with and advisor to identify suitable placements - including schools, community agencies, medical care facilities, laboratories, and other sites engaged in health education/public health activities - with the goal of providing students real-world work experience. Students must attend a course seminar that will be held at least monthly throughout the semester. The seminar will consist of activities that assist them in measuring the specific competencies they have selected, problem-solving in the field, developing presentation skills, and presenting their work. The course instructor and an on-site preceptor supervise each intern. Students must complete a minimum of 180 on-site hours, and the required seminar sessions for the full three credit internship.
Prerequisites: 18 credit hours completed in either MA in Health Education or MPH in Community Health Education programs.
