Work With Schools and Other Agencies

  • Principal Investigator - Project C.O.P.E. (Communities Organizing for Prevention and Empowerment) is a five year federal initiative (2003-08) funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP). As a collaborative effort between Montclair State University, the Paterson Public Schools, Paterson Police Department, and numerous social service agencies, Project C.O.P.E. has helped increase the capacity of local community-based organizations in their efforts to provide comprehensive substance abuse and HIV prevention services targeting racial and ethnic minority youth.
