About Us

Our students are passionate about their subjects. Our majors (more than 20), minors (nearly 50), and numerous graduate programs, give students essential skills for the 21st century. Some students focus on time-honored areas of scholarship: Classics, Philosophy, or Religion. Others pursue modern and emerging disciplines like Child Advocacy, Medical Humanities, and Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. The departments of Psychology and Justice Studies house the largest number of students, while languages hold a central role at CHSS. We offer study in American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek (ancient), Hebrew, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Latin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
