Summer Internships
Summer Internships for Students in Linguistics
and Related Disciplines
There are several competitive internship programs for graduate and undergraduate linguistics students, particularly for students interested in cognitive science and computational linguistics. Many of the internships are funded by the National Science Foundation’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates program. Internships typically offer a stipend. Some offer living arrangements as well. They all offer wonderful experience in being a practicing linguist, cognitive scientist, or computational linguist. Montclair State Linguistics has sent students to internships at Johns Hopkins and the University of Pennsylvania in past years, and we encourage you to keep up the tradition.
Websites that list different types of summer opportunities include:
The LinguistList Internship Registry, This webpage lists both internships and paid summer jobs. You can search by location, type of work, and area of linguistics. 33 internship opportunities are currently listed, including 27 that are paid.
