TITLE/RANK Assistant Professor of Sociology
DESCRIPTION Tenure-Track position.  

The Department of Sociology at Montclair State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2016. We seek a publicly engaged sociologist with expertise in qualitative research methods and social policy with a focus on one or more of the following areas: Urban, Environment, Health, and/or Education.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach lower-level introductory courses, upper-level undergraduate courses in his/her area of specialization, and, as part of the newly developed Certificate in Data Collection and Management, graduate courses in qualitative research methods and policy/program evaluation. Activities required of all faculty members include curriculum development, grant acquisition, research, recruitment and retention activities, advising, and service to the department, college and university.

QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in Sociology.  Doctorate should be completed by the time of appointment (i.e., Sept. 1, 2016).
Candidates should have strong research and teaching skills. Evidence of successful grant acquisition is desired; evidence of superior teaching ability and a specific plan for external funding in the future is required.
SALARY RANGE Dependent upon qualifications
