Submissions

To submit your work, please follow these steps:

1.    Review the guidelines (see below) that relate to the kind of work you are submitting (i.e., read literary submissions for poetry, read art submissions for a photograph.)

2.    Fill out all the information requested on the Literary/Art Submissions guidelines.

3.    E-mail your submissions.

Literary Submission Guidelines

1. Only undergraduate and graduate students at Montclair State University are eligible to submit.

2. The work must be the original creative work of the attributed author/artist.

3. A student may submit as many pieces of work as they desire. However, publication guidelines are as follows: a. FICTION/NON-FICTION/ESSAYS/DRAMA: limited to approximately seven pages total, double-spaced. b. POETRY: Maximum of 60 lines, 150 lines.

4. There is no specific restriction on language. However, derogatory or demeaning work will not be published, nor will obscene or excessively erotic material. Discretion is left to The Normal Review staff and editorial board.

5. Each piece submitted must be accompanied by a signed submission form. Failure to sign and submit this form will disqualify the work from consideration for publication. (You do not need to print it out and sign. Only insert your initials in the body of the e-mail.)

6. All work must be typed and submitted as either a typed paper copy or via email. No material submitted will be returned.

7. The staff of The Normal Review and its editorial board will proofread and edit all accepted work for spelling and grammatical errors. No work will be published without proofreading. If you have any questions regarding the submission guidelines, please  email: thenormalreview@gmail.com.

Artwork Submission Guidelines

The following are the artwork submission guidelines for The Normal Review. Please review carefully. After the guidelines you will find a link to the Submission form, which you must submit along with each copy of work that you contribute to the publication.  Failure to submit the appropriate form will cause your work to be ineligible for publication.

1. Only graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to submit.

2. The work must be the original creative work of the attributed author/artist.

3. A student may submit as many pieces of work as they desire. However, publication guidelines are as follows:? No more than two visual art pieces per artist will be published.

4. Each piece submitted must be accompanied by a signed submission form – failure to sign and submit this form will disqualify the work from consideration for publication. (You do not need to print it out and sign. Only insert your initials in the body of the e-mail.)

5. All work must be submitted as either a photograph or digital medium. No work submitted will be returned. DO NOT SUBMIT ORIGINAL COPY!
