Honorary Degree Recipient Carlos Rodriguez
Carlos Rodriguez is president and chief executive officer of Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP), one of the largest and most trusted providers of business services, business analytics and compliance expertise in the world.
Rodriguez emigrated from Cuba with his parents and is a first-generation college graduate, earning Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from Harvard University.
Since joining ADP in 1999, Rodriguez has served in a number of executive roles including president of ADP’s Small Business Services and president of ADP TotalSource, prior to being named president and CEO in 2011. He also serves on the boards of ADP, Hubbell Inc. and A-T Children’s Project, an organization that raises awareness and funds for ataxia-telangiectasia, a rare genetic disease.
Rodriguez chairs ADP’s executive diversity council and is a member of World 50, a collaborative organization of global executives. He also oversees the ADP Foundation, which provides monetary and volunteer support to causes and nonprofit organizations. The company’s associates provide volunteer support to more than 1,400 charitable initiatives worldwide.
The ADP Foundation has partnered with Montclair State University to create the ADP Center for Learning Technologies, which provides services, training and support, as well as access to state-of-the-art equipment in the College of Education and Human Services. The Center also offers workshops, seminars and one-to-one technology help to Montclair State’s current education students as well as partner school districts.
A member of both the Business Roundtable and the Economic Club of New York, Rodriguez has been named to the NJBIZ Power 100, the publication’s annual list of the 100 most powerful people in New Jersey business, each year since 2014.
