Q. What are your hours of operation?
A. Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4:30. We are open until 7:00 on Monday and Thursday nights during the semester only. Our summer hours (beginning the first week in June and ending the last week in August) are 8:00 to 5:15, Monday through Thursday. There are no evening hours in the summer.

Q. What is your address?

Q. a) I'd like to fax a teaching job. Where should I send it? b) I have questions about teacher certification...
A. Questions regarding teaching jobs and certification are handled by the Center of Pedagogy. Their number is (973) 655-4262 or x7691.

Q. Where do I sign up for a workshop?
A. You can sign up for workshops on line on our workshops page.

Testing related FAQs

Q. Can I walk into the office and take a vocational test?
A. No. Testing is a part of counseling. Results are explained by a counselor and a prior appointment is required to determine which test is appropriate.

Q. How long does it take to get the results of the tests?
A. When returned to this office, approximately two weeks for the Strong Interest Inventory and approximately one week for the M.B.T.I. Your counselor will explain each test result in an individual appointment.

Graduate School related FAQs

Q. Does this office provide help with completing graduate school personal essays?
A. Yes.

Q. Do you have exam forms for the GRE, LSAT, GMAT, etc.?
A. Yes. Booklets are available in the office.

Q. Will you mail me a booklet (GRE, LSAT, GMAT, etc.)?
A. No, but ETS will. Their number is 1 (609) 921-9000 (Princeton, NJ).

Job related FAQs

Q. Do you have job listings?
A. Yes. Full-time job books are white and part-time job books are black. Internship opportunities are listed as well. Employers are encouraged to list jobs via Career Directions, our web based system. Students need to register with the system in order to access jobs.

Q. Where else can I find job listings other than in the job books?
A. Go to the Internet Resources section of this web site.

Q. How do I find on-campus employment?
A. Through Career Directions or the student assistant job book and, for students who qualify, the federal work study job book.

Q. Do you have information on companies?
A. Yes. Visit selected Internet links and use Vault (available from our Tech Tools menu on our first page.)

Resume Critiquing FAQs

Q. If I can't make it to Drop-in, how else can I get my resume/cover letter critiqued?
A. You can drop it off here. It will be critiqued and ready to pick-up within 3 days.

Q. I understand that you critique resumes and cover letters. Do you critique class work?
A. No. Tutorial services handles that area. Go to Morehead Hall. Take the elevator to 1R. Tutorial Services is located in room 143.

Computer Lab related FAQs

Q. Do I have to bring my own resume paper?
A. Yes. The first copy is free. Additional copies are $.10 each.

Q. What kinds of computers are in the lab?
A. Dell PCs. You should bring a blank disc with you or have information saved in MS Word.

Q. What are the lab hours?
A. Call (973) 655-5194 for hours.

Q. Can I print pages from Focus?
A. Yes.

Q. I'm not an M.S.U. student and never have been. What services can I use?
A. You are welcome to use the Career Library.

Q. Can you refer me to outside counselors if I am not a student or alum?
Yes. Visit the National Board for Certified Counselors.
