Group Therapy Schedule - Fall 2012
Group therapy provides an opportunity for you to try out new behaviors, express feelings you have been hesitant to express, assert yourself in different ways, and experiment with novel ideas. You’ll also learn from other members.
Individuals can benefit from membership in an interpersonal group in the following ways:
- Gain greater self- awareness
- Understand their relationships better
- Improve existing and future relationships
- Increase self-esteem
- Learn to trust others
- Foster personal growth
Interpersonal Groups currently running at CAPS include:
“Understanding Self and Others” – Co-Ed
Mondays 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Tuesdays 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Thursdays 1:00 - 2:20 p.m.
“Understanding Self and Others” – Women Only
Wednesdays 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.
“Healing from Loss”
This is a support group for students who have experienced the death of a family member. Coping with loss can be challenging during the college years. Connecting with others who may have had similar experiences can be helpful in feeling less alone in the grief process.
Mondays 2:00- 3:30 p.m.
“Living Out Loud”
This is a group for students who are in the process of coming out and who want to move toward “living out loud” rather than in silence.
Tuesdays 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
“Women’s Empowerment Group”
This group offers counseling and support for women who have experienced sexual abuse in their lives.
Thursdays 1:00 – 2:30 p.m
“Connecting Across Cultures"
This is an informal discussion/support group for students who are interested in dialoguing and connecting across cultures. Students can make connections and engage with others from different cultures, while also supporting each other and sharing experiences and challenges.
Thursdays 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. – Please note: This support group is held at the Drop-In Center
For more information about any of these groups, ask your CAPS therapist.
