Biology Professor Funded To Study Amphibians in New Jersey

Dr. Lisa Hazard Awarded $18,919 Grant

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Lisa Hazard, assistant professor in the department of Biology and Molecular Biology, has been awarded a grant for $18,919 from the New Jersey Water Resources Research Institute at Rutgers University, to pursue research evaluating the sensitivity of several New Jersey amphibian species to contamination of aquatic habitats by road de-icers.

This study will use a conservation physiology approach to evaluate water quality, integrating behavioral and physiological responses of adult amphibians to elevated levels of road deicers with ecological monitoring of breeding attempts by amphibians in contaminated habitats.

This is a one year grant that will begin in March.
