Field Center Research
The New Jersey School of Conservation, the environmental field campus of Montclair State University, is the only university research station within New Jersey that is located in upland temperate forest habitat, and is thus an important site for investigations of biological processes and organisms in a heavily urbanized state. It has recently begun to shift its emphasis from environmental education and teacher training to field-based environmental research. This shift parallels the institution’s shift in focus to become a more research-oriented university.
