Outright Gifts

The most common gifts the MSU Foundation receives are outright gifts. These are most frequently cash, but the Foundation also welcomes gifts of securities, real property, and personal property including works of art. Outright gifts to the MSU Foundation are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Planned gifts, also called deferred gifts, are arranged with the Foundation during a donor's lifetime, but the benefits to Montclair State University do not accrue until a later time, usually after the donor or the donor's beneficiaries are deceased. Bequests are the most common planned gifts; others include trusts, life income plans and gifts of life insurance.

For more information based on your specific situation it is important to consult with your attorney, tax professional or investment professional. Also, our own knowledge of charitable giving methods is available for you and your advisors, with no obligation.
