During the month of March, our state and nation celebrates Women’s History Month. Montclair State University joins in this celebration by acknowledging the many achievements that women of diverse racial, ethnic, social, and cultural backgrounds have made throughout our society.
Women have helped build our nation and have a very rich and inspiring history in our country. They have been in the forefront of social movements for women's suffrage and civil rights, and they have played an extraordinary role in our social, cultural, economic, and intellectual development. Women serve as leaders in American business, government, medicine, education, and many other professions.
At Montclair State University, women have served our campus community with extraordinary leadership, vision, and intellectual achievements. Throughout Montclair State’s history, its women students have used their education to make important contributions to society. During this month, we celebrate the many ways women strengthen and enrich our country, state, and institution, and we reaffirm our commitment to provide women with equal educational and employment opportunities.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, SUSAN A. COLE, President of Montclair State University, hereby proclaim the month of March 2007 as Women's History Month at Montclair State University, and I encourage the entire campus community to join in this celebration.
