PROCLAMATION

In Recognition of World's Fair Day
April 2007

Montclair State University is a community of individuals from various racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds representing every part of the global family, and the special and unique qualities of the University’s diverse faculty, staff, and student body give us cause for celebration and provides us an opportunity for sharing our cultural riches.

Higher education thrives on the exchange of ideas and experiences through a process of rational and civil discourse; and such discourse demands respect for, and sensitivity to, the similarities and differences among us.

Montclair State University proudly celebrates its diversity and is committed to fostering activities that promote greater understanding of, and appreciation for, the world’s varied cultures and languages.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Susan A. Cole, President of Montclair State University, hereby proclaim April 26, 2007 as “World’s Fair Day” at Montclair State University, and I encourage our entire campus community to join me in celebrating this occasion.
