In order to meet the growing needs of the campus community, Montclair State University EMS, in cooperation with the Office of Residential Education and Services, has developed the Resident Emergency Medical Technician Program. This program is designed to increase the availability of emergency medical technicians (EMT's) on campus to respond to emergency calls. In the program, resident EMT's provide on-call service during evening and weekend hours, in addition to their regular daily shifts. In exchange for their service, EMT's are provided a room on campus in the Village at Little Falls. Resident EMT's also qualify for priority registration.
A strong commitment to MSU EMS and to providing quality care to the campus community is required. If selected, the resident EMT will be responsible for being on campus and on-call a minimum of one night per week (11 p.m. to 8 a.m.), three day shifts per week (12 hours total), and two weekends per month. In addition, the resident EMT agrees to carry a pager and assist in handling emergency calls whenever possible. EMT's will also be responsible for attending all scheduled EMS meetings.
It is expected that there will be multiple openings for the upcoming academic year.
Applicants for the resident EMT program must meet the following requirements:
