Our annual $10,000 pitch contest is a highlight of our entrepreneurship curriculum.
The TeleBrands Inventors Day for Aspiring Entrepreneurs is held each year in May, with a $10,000 prize to the winning team. Students who have completed our 9-credit Certificate of Entrepreneurship are eligible to pitch in the contest.
The contest is presented by the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship, and the event is sponsored by AJ Khubani, president and CEO of TeleBrands and a Montclair State alumnus.
The student teams pitch a product or service they have created and refined during two semesters of work in our entrepreneurship courses (ENTR 201, 301 and 302). The pitch competition is the final step in the students’ completion of the center’s Certificate of Entrepreneurship.
The 2016 pitch competition was held on May 4, 2016, in the university conference center, 7th floor of University Hall. The winning team was Karuda, which consists of Larissa Elvers, a senior majoring in Child Advocacy and Policy; Christiana Himiob, a junior Spanish Translation major; and Sacha Vincent, a senior Finance major. Karuda manufactures and sells coconut-oil-based skincare products.
