Our annual $10,000 pitch contest is a highlight of our entrepreneurship program.
The BulbHead.com Bright Ideas Inventors Day for Aspiring Entrepreneurs is held each year in May, with a $10,000 prize to the winning team. Any student enrolled at Montclair State is eligible to pitch in the contest.
The contest is presented by the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship, and the event is sponsored by AJ Khubani, president and CEO of TeleBrands and a Montclair State alumnus.
The first contest was held in May 2014, and the competition was previously limited to students who had completed the Feliciano Center's 9-credit Certificate of Entrepreneurship. In 2017, the contest was opened to the entire university, with any Montclair State student allowed to pitch. A prelim round required submission of a 2-minute pitch video and one-page executive summary. More than 50 teams were evaluated during as part of the first round. The finals, with 21 teams competing, was held May 3, 2017 in the university conference center, 7th floor of University Hall. The winning team was Fit B, which consisted of Jamie Wisniewski, a graduate student in the Public and Organizational Relations program, and Selena Alvarez, a senior Marketing major. Fit B is a custom bra-fitting experience.
