Information for Persons with Disabilities

Shuttle Services

If you need ADA/PWD accommodations, please fill out our Red Hawk Access Request Form.

The University provides complimentary curb-to-curb transportation service for students with either long or short-term limited mobility. The service provides rides to and from regularly scheduled classes, meals, or other University-related activities. Any student with limited mobility who requires transportation should fill out the Red Hawk Access Request Form. Service must then be arranged with Transportation & Parking Services at least 48 hours prior to an individual’s transport needs. To arrange for this service, contact 973-655-3326 or shuttle@montclair.edu. Requests are honored on a first come, first served basis.

Additionally, all campus bus and shuttle transportation is ADA/PWD accessible.

Visitors to Campus

Visitors to campus with a State-issued ADA/PWD permit who do not possess a University-issued parking permit should park in ADA/PWD accessible spaces in the Red Hawk Deck, metered spaces or any ADA/PWD space on campus using paybyphone.

In accordance with applicable State regulations, those vehicles displaying state-issued ADA/PWD permits that are parked in metered spaces in lot 19 need only pay for the first half-hour and then do not need to re-feed the meter for 24 hours.

Guidelines of ADA/PWD

The Persons with Disabilities (ADA/PWD) Shuttle transports passengers between campus locations and will pick-up/drop-off passengers as close to one’s building as possible; however, please note that vehicles are not permitted to access the main campus core. This service operates Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m.

If you are a student and you have appropriate documentation from a physician, the University’s  Disability Resource Center authorizes students to ride the Persons with Disabilities Shuttle.  Faculty and staff with appropriate documentation from a physician can receive authorization from the Human Resources and Employee Benefits Office.

Shuttle rides must be scheduled at the beginning of the semester and are on a first come first serve basis.

  • Service requests are accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Users should be very specific about their pickup location and be at the arranged location at the scheduled time. The driver will wait only three (3) minutes beyond the time he/she arrives at the pickup location.
  • Users are permitted a maximum of four (4) scheduled rides per day. These trips are to and from campus only, not between university buildings. All “no shows” and short-notice cancellations will be included in the daily count.
