Biography
Adele Merlino, Ph.D. is an adjunct professor in Montclair State University’s School of Media and Communication, she facilitates a Collaborative Online International Learning (Virtual Exchange) course in which her students analyze media bias while her international partner’s students examine their countries’ political landscapes. This collaborative structure allows students to develop intercultural communication skills and engage in comparative analysis of media systems and sociopolitical contexts in an Introduction to Communications and Media course.
Her teaching integrates multimedia tools and innovative digital technologies to enhance learning, and her continued engagement with industry trends and scholarly research informs her pedagogical practice.

Research
Adele Merlino, Ph.D. brings more than 15 years of experience in broadcast TV news, having worked at WWOR‑TV/FOX 5 and WPIX 11 News. She also has over a decade of experience as a Producer and Editor in media production under Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s official network, NYC TV. During her tenure at NYC TV, she was credited with producing long‑form documentaries and more than 30 half‑hour entertainment programs and many more short-form pieces that highlighted the tourism and the diverse cultures that make up the Big Apple. Her long‑form documentary, Secrets of New York: The Backlots of TriBeCa, aired on WNBC as a special feature for the TriBeCa Film Festival. In addition, she served as Creative Producer and Editor for culture and restaurant series under various media organizations, expanding her influence across New York City’s culinary and cultural storytelling landscape. Her work has earned her more than 13 New York Emmy® nominations, along with multiple Telly and Webby Awards.
