Biography
Guitarist Charlie Sigler has been an active member of the music community since his high school years, when he began studying and performing in the Baltimore/Washington area. He went on to attend William Paterson University, where he studied with and learned from renowned artists including Mulgrew Miller, Gene Bertoncini, Paul Meyers, Harold Mabern, and Cecil Bridgewater.
After relocating to New York, Charlie quickly established himself as one of the city’s busiest young guitarists. He has performed with many of the music’s leading figures, including Christian McBride, Slide Hampton, Billy Hart, Victor Lewis, Lenny White, Winard Harper, Harold Mabern, Norman Simmons, Joe Magnarelli, Myron Walden, Akiko Tsuruga, Jared Gold, Vince Ector, Bruce Williams, Jerry Weldon, and Radam Schwartz, among others.
Charlie has appeared at major venues and festivals both nationally and internationally, including Smalls, Mezzrow, the Blue Note, Dizzy’s Club, the Jazz Showcase, Marians Jazzroom, the Charlie Parker Festival, the Montclair Jazz Festival, the Litchfield Jazz Festival, the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, AFRAM, and the Berks Jazz Festival.
In addition to his performance career, Charlie is a dedicated educator. He maintains a robust private teaching studio, works with young musicians through Jazz House Kids, and is actively involved in collegiate jazz education at Montclair State University, William Paterson University, and NYU. He continues to perform and record with leading artists in the New York area while leading his own guitar trio and organ groups at clubs and festivals throughout the region.
