Biography
Demmy Calivas joined the Fundamentals of Speech faculty at Montclair State University in 2015 as a newly minted adjunct professor. She has since developed extensive experience in higher education by joining the Communications Departments of three additional Universities: Fairleigh Dickinson, Seton Hall, and Dominican University of New York. Her classes are meticulously structured and very rigorous. Combined with her passion of teaching students how to communicate effectively through various approaches, she shows a deep concern for her students and effectively implements various speaking and language techniques, develop students’ cultural competence, and teaches strategies for alleviating public speaking anxiety. Additionally, Prof. Calivas champions the development of wellness techniques to assist students in building self-efficacy. Demmy is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Strategic Communication Program at Regent University.
