The Future of Higher Education
In keeping with Montclair State’s commitment to providing our students with state-of-the-art classroom and laboratory facilities, ground was broken in September 2013 for the University’s $55-million Center for Environmental and Life Sciences and $66-million School of Business building.
Both are being built in part with funds from New Jersey’s $750 million “Building our Future” Bond Act—the first major state capital investment in higher education facilities in more than 25 years—with completion scheduled for spring 2015.
These new buildings will benefit New Jersey students by expanding the University’s ability to deliver high-quality, high-demand business and environmental science programs; boost both state and local economies by creating 1,500 construction and support jobs; and encourage top students to stay in New Jersey to pursue their education in the science and business fields that help fuel the state’s economy.
“The state’s funding commitment sends a strong signal about the University’s growth and positive momentum.” – John T. Shannon, Vice President, University Advancement
Efforts also continue on the new $59-million School of Communication and Media, which will enable the University to continue its long-established tradition of student preparation in the digital arena. The School will house the Center for Cooperative Media, a leading national research center established in 2012 to strengthen new and existing media voices in New Jersey as well as provide a world-class, 60,000-square-foot facility that will serve as a vibrant hub where students can come together with faculty and professionals to learn, network and engage.
