		During the past 26 years, Montclair State University has conducted sessions of the Academic Foundations Program (AFP) and Academically Gifted & Talented Young Student Program (AGP), a supplementary academic program for high aptitude and high achieving 4th- through 11th- grade students. The Program has grown since 1981 from an initial enrollment of 77 students to more than 1,500 in the 2006-2007 academic year!. The primary goal of the program is to provide balanced enrichment by strengthening both the verbal and the quantitative or science areas. All courses in the program are non-credit and are taught by professors who have experience and expertise in the area of gifted education.
