About the University
Since its beginning as a normal school in 1908, Montclair State has built a record of academic excellence marked by change, growth and distinction. New Jersey’s second largest university with nearly 16,000 students, Montclair State offers a broad liberal arts curriculum with pre-professional and professional education on the undergraduate and graduate levels. It offers more than 250 majors, minors and concentrations in over 40 areas of study, and has six degree-granting colleges and schools: The College of Education and Human Services, The College of Humanities and Social Sciences, The College of Science and Mathematics, The School of the Arts, The School of Business and The School of Graduate, Professional and Continuing Education, which offer a master of arts, master of arts in teaching, master of business administration, master of education, master of fine arts, master of science and doctor of education. Montclair State University attracts a faculty of scholars of national and international renown. Faculty members hold doctorates or other advanced degrees representing the highest credentials in their fields.
