Sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright Program provides funding for students, scholars, teachers, and professionals to undertake graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools.
As part of our strategic commitment to Connecting Globally, Montclair State University faculty, staff and students participate in numerous prestigious international scholarship and exchange programs. Montclair State University is particularly proud of our continuing participation in the Fulbright Programs, and the Global Education Center is the central resource on campus for both US and Foreign Fulbright Programs.
Fulbright Programs at Montclair State for Foreign Students and Scholars
Montclair State welcomes international Fulbright students and scholars to campus. Through various Fulbright student and scholar exchange programs, the Montclair State community is enriched by the presence and participation in campus and classroom life of these outstanding individuals from around the world.
Enables graduate students, young professionals and artists from abroad to conduct research and study in the United States.
In Academic Years 2011 and 2012, a record number of foreign Fulbright students chose Montclair State University to pursue their graduate study. Seventeen foreign Fulbright students enrolled in graduate programs at Montclair State during the 2011-2012 academic year, and ten more joined graduate programs in 2012-2013.
Montclair State demonstrates our commitment to welcoming these outstanding young scholars by providing a wide array of support including cost-sharing, tuition awards, flexible admissions, academic mentoring, orientation, cultural advising and programming.
Brings foreign scholars, professionals, and artists to lecture and/or conduct post-doctoral research for up to a year at U.S. colleges and universities.
Provides opportunities for young English teachers from overseas to refine their teaching skills and broaden their knowledge of American culture and society while strengthening the instruction of foreign languages at colleges and universities in the United States.
Fulbright Programs for Montclair State Students and Scholars/Faculty
Sends American scholars, professionals, and artists abroad to lecture and/or conduct research for up to a year.
Montclair State University was named a Top Producer of U.S. Fulbright Scholars by the U.S. Department of State-sponsored Fulbright Program in recognition of the three members of the University’s faculty who received teaching and research scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year. The designation is for the Master’s Institutions category.
Over the years, many Montclair State faculty and administrators have been awarded Fulbright grants.
Offers fellowships for U.S. graduating seniors, graduate students, young professionals and artists to study abroad for one academic year. The Program also includes the English Teaching Assistant component.

Offers educators the opportunity to exchange teaching positions with a teacher from another country for one semester or academic year.
Recognizes and encourages excellence in primary and secondary classroom teaching in the U.S. and abroad.
