CINTAX WORKSHOPS - HOW TO FILE YOUR TAX FORMS (REQUIRED FOR ALL F-1 AND J-1 STUDENTS):
Tax season is upon us! If you lived in the US in 2010 on an F-1 or J-1 visa, you are required to file taxes this year whether you earned income or not.
International Services can make the process easier by giving you access to CINTAX, a web-based tax filing system for international students and scholars in F-1 and J-1 visa status. We strongly recommend that you use CINTAX to file your tax forms - it's easy and fast. All of the CINTAX workshops are over but you can still use CINTAX on your own.
WHERE: Stop by the Global Education Center at 22 Normal Ave. to pick up the CINTAX instructions and get your personal CINTAX access code so you can begin using the system to file your tax forms.
IMPORTANT NOTE: CINTAX is only appropriate for F-1 and J-1 students who have been in the US for 5 years or less, and for J-1 scholars who have been in the US for 2 years or less. If you have been in the US for longer than this, you must file taxes using the standard 1040 forms that Americans use. Please note that staff at International Services are not professional tax preparers and we cannot legally advise you on your individual tax questions.
Tax Filing Deadlines: If you EARNED INCOME in 2010 - The deadline for filing is April 18, 2011.
If you DID NOT earn any income but still lived in the US in F-1 or J-1 status in 2010 - The deadline is June 15, 2011.
