GREEN CARD LOTTERY! DIVERSITY VISA 2012 LOTTERY. APPLY NOW!

The year 2012 Immigration Lottery has been announced and the on line registration period began Tuesday, October 5, 2010, and ends at noon, Eastern Daylight Time, Wednesday, November 3, 2010.

Anyone who is a citizen of an eligible country (see excluded countries below) may apply for this Electronic Diversity Permanent Visa (green card) Lottery sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs. You must enter with only ONE ON LINE entry.  Winners will be selected at random and will have the opportunity to submit a U.S. permanent residency (green card) application.

Eligibility Criteria:  For DV-2012, natives of the following countries are NOT eligible to apply because these countries had a total of more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. in the previous five years:

BRAZIL, CANADA, CHINA (mainland-born), COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ECUADOR, EL SALVADOR, GUATEMALA, HAITI, INDIA, JAMAICA, MEXICO, PAKISTAN, PERU, PHILIPPINES, POLAND, SOUTH KOREA, UNITED KINGDOM (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and VIETNAM.

Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan are eligible.

PARTIAL TUITION WAIVER AVAILABLE:

The International Student Partial Tuition Waiver for the Spring 2011 semester is available online and the application deadline is Monday, October 25, 2010 by 4:00 p.m.  The waiver allows you to pay the in-state tuition amount and waives the out-of-state portion of the tuition.  The waiver is granted to students with valid F-1 and J-1 visa status who demonstrate financial need.  Financial need will still be an important criterion, but recipients of the waiver will now have an additional requirement to fulfill if they are granted a waiver.

If you receive the partial tuition waiver for Spring 2011, you are required to make a contribution to the University by participating in at least one Service Activity.  You must complete this requirement during each semester that you are granted a waiver.  For more information about the Service Activity, please see the Partial Tuition Waiver online application instructions on our website under News and Events.

The application is online and we are not accepting paper applications.  You can use any computer that has internet access to complete the application and submit it online.  You may also use a computer in International Services in the Global Education Center at 22 Normal Avenue.

TRIP TO STATUE OF LIBERTY

 You are invited to visit two of America's "must-see" monuments!
 
International Services is hosting an excursion to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on Sunday, November 7. We will depart Alice Paul Hall in the Village Apartments by bus at 10:00 am and return at approximately 5:00 pm. A light breakfast will be served in the Alice Paul lounge at 9:30 am. You may either bring your lunch or buy your own at Liberty Island.
 
The cost of the trip is $5 per person. In order for us to have an accurate count, please pay this amount to the front desk of International Services, 22 Normal Ave., by Tuesday, November 2. We cannot accept payment on the day of the trip.
