The year 2012 Immigration Lottery has been announced and the on line registration period began Tuesday, October 5, 2010, and ends at noon, Eastern Daylight Time, Wednesday, November 3, 2010.
Anyone who is a citizen of an eligible country (see excluded countries below) may apply for this Electronic Diversity Permanent Visa (green card) Lottery sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs. You must enter with only ONE ON LINE entry. Winners will be selected at random and will have the opportunity to submit a U.S. permanent residency (green card) application.
Eligibility Criteria: For DV-2012, natives of the following countries are NOT eligible to apply because these countries had a total of more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. in the previous five years:
BRAZIL, CANADA, CHINA (mainland-born), COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ECUADOR, EL SALVADOR, GUATEMALA, HAITI, INDIA, JAMAICA, MEXICO, PAKISTAN, PERU, PHILIPPINES, POLAND, SOUTH KOREA, UNITED KINGDOM (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and VIETNAM.
Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan are eligible.
