Musicologist and Professor Larissa Evdokimovna Slutskaya was born on 15 May 1948 in the village of Trudoy in Belarus. She graduated from the Donetsk State Musical and Pedagogical Institute (Ukraine) in 1975. From 1976 to 1995, she worked as a head teacher in Moscow music schools ? 59 and ? 6. Since 1996, she worked as Chief of the Training Division of the Moscow State Conservatory named after Tchaikovsky.
In 2000, Dr. Slutskaya defended her thesis, “Improving the training of musicians/performers (the experience of the piano faculty of Moscow State Conservatory)”. From 2002, she was assistant professor in the Department of History and Theory of Performance of the Moscow Conservatory. Since December 2008, Dr. Slutskaya has been Provost for Academic Affairs at the Moscow State Conservatory, combining a professorship in the Department of History and Theory of Performing Arts. In 2010, by Presidential Decree, Dr. Slutskaya was awarded the title "Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation."
Dr. Slutskaya takes part in many scientific and practical conferences and seminars at Universities of Russia on music education and pedagogy.
