| Da Chen grew up in south China as the grandson of a disgraced landowner, during the Cultural Revolution. He excelled in college at Beijing Languages and Culture University, and stayed on as a professor of English. Da arrived in America at the age of 23 with $30 in his pocket and attended Columbia University School of Law on a full scholarship, and later worked for a Wall Street investment banking firm. Colors of the Mountain, his first memoir, was compared to Angela’s Ashes, and went on to become a New York Times bestseller. Published in six languages, the memoir won numerous awards. This was followed by China’s Son, a children’s adaptation of his memoir and Sounds of the River, Wandering Warrior, and his first adult fiction, Brothers. |

As part of an on-going series on the world’s cuisines, this workshop will discuss the history, preparation and culture of Chinese dumplings. It will feature a hands-on demonstration and tastings for attendees, with dumplings prepared by the Food Management students under the direction of Montclair State University faculty and visiting scholars. Free, but Limited Space; By prior reservation only.
