Montclair State University students may apply for a Global Education scholarship for MSU Summer Institutes. The deadline for summer programs application is March 1st. The deadline for spring International Field Trips is Dec 1st. Students applying for financial aid should obtain a program budget form from the Global Education Center before contacting the Financial Aid office.

Montclair in Florence Scholarship Opportunities
Graz, Austria is a Sister-City with Montclair, NJ. The two cities have nurtured this relationship over the past sixty years. The Montclair-Graz Exchange Program is a student program between the city of Montclair/Montclair State University and the city of Graz. The program includes a FULL SCHOLARSHIP funded by both Montclair's Overseas Neighbors and the City of Graz and provides free tuition, room and board. It currently offers two MSU undergraduate students the opportunity to study for one academic year in Graz.

The Global Education Center will be offering a scholarship of approximately $596 to a qualified student to apply toward his/her study abroad experience in the Summer or Fall of 2011.
Eligibility:

March 15th, 2011. Only completed study abroad applications that are received on or before March 15th for summer or fall will be considered for the Award.

There is no application form. All applicants who meet the above eligibility criteria will be considered for the Award.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program
Summer 2012 Application Open - Deadline: March 1, 2012
The Gilman International Scholarship Program is pleased to announce the opening of the Fall 2012 online application for U.S. undergraduate students participating in Fall 2012 study abroad programs. The Gilman Scholarship is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the Institute of International Education. The Gilman Scholarship Program is celebrating 10 years of helping nearly 6,500 Gilman Scholars study abroad and during the academic year 2012-2013, over 2,300 scholarships will be awarded!
In order to be eligible, students must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at a two or four-year U.S. Institution

The applications for the 2012-2013 National Security Education Program's David L. Boren Scholarships for undergraduate students and Fellowships for graduate students are now available at www.borenawards.org. Boren Awards provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. students to study in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East, where they can add important international and language components to their educations.
The Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 for undergraduate students to study in countries that are generally underrepresented in study abroad.
The Boren Fellowships provide graduate students up to $30,000 to add an important international and language component to their graduate studies.

SIT will be offering six $10,000 scholarships for public college and university students studying on spring 2012 SIT programs in China, Mongolia, and Vietnam. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to students who demonstrate a compelling interest in studying in Asia as well as need. More details will be available later this summer.
ISA Study Abroad Scholarships
ISA awards $60,000 in scholarships each year to students who are participating in ISA's programs as Memorial and Diversity Scholarships.
CEA Study Abroad Scholarship Program - The CEA Study Abroad Scholarship Program promotes international understanding among students by subsidizing the cost to study abroad on CEA programs.
SACI Scholarships
A number of scholarship opportunities are available for undergraduate and graduate study at Studio Art Centers International. Except for scholarships for children of SACI alumni, SACI scholarships are available for the Fall and Spring terms only. One full scholarship and a large number of partial scholarships are offered annually. All SACI scholarships are based on both demonstrated financial need and outstanding artistic and academic ability. Students interested in applying for a SACI scholarship MUST check the appropriate box on the SACI application form and complete all application requirements. SACI scholarships average between $500 and $2,500 per term.
ASIA
Freeman-ASIA
Freeman-ASIA (Freeman Awards for Study in Asia) is designed to support American undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who are planning to study overseas in East or Southeast Asia. The program's goal is to increase the number of Americans with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures.
Award recipients are required to share their experiences with their home campuses or communities to encourage study abroad by others and fulfill the program's goal of increasing understanding of Asia in the United States.
Summer 2011 Awards - For students applying to study abroad programs of 8 weeks or more with a program start date between May - July. The online application will open on January 4, 2011.

China - CUCAS Scholarships for 2011
CUCAS, China’s University and College Admission System, is the international admissions portal supported by the China Education and Research Network (a government agency), offering international students a convenient online application system to apply for China’s schools. For the year 2011, CUCAS will launch a scholarship project to finance self-sponsored international students studying abroad in China.

Bridging Scholarships - Study Abroad in Japan
The Association of Teachers of Japanese Bridging Project offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan. Funding from private foundations and major U.S. corporations has made it possible for ATJ to award 100 scholarships annually to assist students with the travel and living expenses they will incur while studying abroad in Japan for a semester or an academic year.
EUROPE
Austria - Ernst Mach Grant
The ERNST MACH grant is offered by the Austrian ministry of science and research, administrated by the Austrian Exchange Service (OAD) and targeted to exchange students from non-European countries. The grant is very generous. Beneficiaries get 940 Euro a month for a maximum of 5 months, this should allow them to cover all their costs. Exact information about the grant can be found at www.grants.at.
The next application deadline is February 10th for all MSU students interested in applying for the Grant for either Fall 2010 or Spring 2011. Please submit the Grant application, along with your study abroad application to the Study Abroad Office by February 10th, 2010.

BUTEX North American Scholarships 2010/11 - United Kingdom
BUTEX is now accepting application for its North American Scholarship
Programme 2010/11
The Scholarship is open to all undergraduate students currently registered at an institution in the USA or Canada. To be eligible to apply you must have been offered a study abroad or exchange place at a UK university which is BUTEX affilitated. Your study abroad or exchange place must be for the academic year 2010/11 and your place must be for a

Fellowships/Grants for Americans to Study in Scandanavia
The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) offers fellowships (up to $23,000) and grants (normally $5,000) to individuals to pursue research or study in one or more Scandinavian country for up to one year. The number of awards varies each year according to total funds available. Over $300,000 is available for the 2011-12 competition. Awards are made in all fields.
Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents, and must have a well-defined research or study project that makes a stay in Scandinavia essential. Applicants must also have completed their undergraduate education by the start of their project in Scandinavia. Team projects are eligible, but each member must apply as an individual, submitting a separate, fully-documented application. First priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received an ASF award. Only in exceptional cases will a third award be considered.

Diversity Abroad and International Studies Abroad Scholarship
The awards from this scholarship will begin with the Fall 2008 semester and $10,000 is offered annually, to be used towards ISA programs. The ISA Diversity Scholarships aim to encourage students of a broader cultural make-up to participate in ISA programs by offering funds to assist with the expenses of studying abroad.

Critical Language Scholarship Program

Critical Language Scholarships (CLS) institutes provide fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for seven to ten weeks for U.S. citizen undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. students. Levels available for each language are as follows:
The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government interagency effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical need foreign languages. Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply. Participants are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship period, and later apply their critical language skills in their future professional careers.
