Novartis Graduate Scholarship
Criteria for qualification:
- First-time, full-time graduate student in a relevant master’s program in CSAM: MS Pharmaceutical Biochemistry, MS Biochemistry, MS Chemistry or MS Molecular Biology
- Commitment to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry
- Prior appropriate work experience, internship or research, etc. with supporting letter(s) of recommendation helpful.
- Award will be based on merit in accordance with the admission requirements as outlined by the program
Application Process:
The following need to be submitted electronically to Dr. Jinan Jaber, Associate Dean – College of Science and Mathematics at jaberj@mail.montclair.edu no later than March 30, 2009:
- A completed scholarship application (available below)
- A precise and concise statement (not to exceed 2 pages) of interest in a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Copy(ies) of all college-level transcript(s).
- Letter of recommendation from a research mentor, academic advisor, or a department chair.
- Research proposal in a field relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and destined to be converted into the student’s master’s thesis.
Award:
Full tuition and fees for four academic semesters
Annual Stipend of $10,000 per academic year
Expectations:
The student recipient shall be expected to:
- Maintain full-time status with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 with no grade below a B.
- Be actively involved in the next PharmFest, pharma related activities and selected activities on the Novartis campus and will be eligible for and encouraged to participate in internships at Novartis.
- Participate in an MSU-based student research symposium plus contribute a research presentation at least one professional conference.
