•  This conference, sponsored by The Graduate School in collaboration with the faculty from all five of the colleges and schools at Montclair State University, provides students with workshop sessions that cover topics specifically for academic and professional development. The conference was developed in response to numerous suggestions from graduate faculty and graduate students alike and from feedback from last year's development conference.     Microsoft PowerPoint provides a user-friendly interface for many types of presentations. This session will introduce many of the program's basic functions, such as creating a new presentation, entering text or content on a slide, formatting, the Quick Access Toolbar and slide transitions.

    Microsoft Excel can be a daunting program for the inexperienced user. Learn the basics of Excel including the functions found on the home screen, entering values, using simple formulas, creating tables and charts, the ins and outs of the Quick Access Toolbar, and more

    Beginning your doctoral study can be overwhelming thinking about the road ahead. Join us for our panel of "seasoned" doctoral students who have navigated their own doctoral programs.     Regardless of industry, most careers require strong communication skills. Strong presentation skills can also serve you well as a graduate student. Whether you are comfortable with public speaking or terrified by the concept, it's important to understand that everyone has room for improvement.   • Time and Life Balance: Tools for Success in Graduate School
    The transition into graduate school can be jolting. This session will explore methods for managing your schedule, as well as any stress that may come along with your new endeavor! Learn what the physical, psychological and behavioral signs of stress are and how to address them in a proactive way.
