International Artist’s Diploma

The one-year post-baccalaureate International Artist’s Diploma was developed specifically for graduate students studying at East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai, China. At ECNU, the Master’s Degree in Music Performance is a three-year program. Following a formal agreement between Montclair State University and ECNU, we have developed a “2+1” program – for their second year of study, students from ECNU come to Montclair State University and take twelve credits during the year.

The program focuses on the practical, performance-based aspects of music, including private instruction, solo and chamber music study and performance, and the presentation of a full recital. Students work closely with faculty, coaches and advisors to grow as performers. In addition, the program is flexible so that students, depending on their concentration, may choose such varied options as participating in opera workshops, or orchestra, or band, or chamber music. To make further practical preparations for careers. The program is planned to support the individual needs and goals of each musician.
