Dr. Robert Aldridge

The ARTIST DIPLOMA is designed for highly talented and motivated young musicians who would like two years of intensive music study. The program focuses on the practical, performance-based aspects of music, including private instruction, participation in ensembles, and concert experience. Two full recitals are required during the two years of study. There is a one-year version of the Artist Diploma, known as the Performer Certificate (see p. XXX).

REQUIRED COURSE OF STUDY (24 credits)
The Artist's Diploma is a 24-credit, two-year program, requiring six credits per semester. Due to the intensive amount of weekly practicing and rehearsing involved, students in this program will be considered to be full-time students.

MUAP-541 Applied Music I (4 cr.)
MUAP-542 Applied Music II (4 cr.)
MUAP-643 Applied Music III (4 cr.)
MUAP-644 Applied Music IV (4 cr.)

Eight credits, chosen from the following Ensembles. Each course may be repeated:

Two Recitals:
MUPR-603 Graduate Recital (0 cr.) (may be repeated)
Each recital must include at least 60 minutes of music exclusive of intermission.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Students must have a baccalaureate degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. Audition requirements for each instrument are available on-line in the category of "Graduate - Performance" at: http://www.musicmontclair.com/Pages/admissionGraduate.htm

Credits from previous study may not be substituted or transferred into the Artist Diploma program. The one exception applies to students who have just competed MSU's Performer Certificate program; they may roll over the twelve credits earned in that certificate towards this more intensive 24-credit program. (See "Change of Program," https://tokyo.montclair.edu/gradweb/forms/changeofprogramform.php)

N.B.
To encourage international candidates, the tuition fees will be calculated according to "In-State" Graduate Tuition, regardless of the student's origin.
