This program of study fulfills the educational requirements for students who wish to obtain a Principal Certificate of Eligibility, which is a credential issued to persons who have completed degree, academic study and applicable test requirements for certification as a Principal. Upon completion of the Masters program requirements, students must complete the requirements set by the New Jersey Department of Education and then apply for the certificate through the State of New Jersey at the appropriate county office. REQUIREMENTS

Students interested in applying must complete the Master of Arts in Administration and Supervision program.

II. Program Courses: (18 Credits)
CURR 530, Principles of Curriculum Development
CURR 534, Strategies for Curriculum Change
ELAD 520, Systems Analysis in Education and Training
ELAD 540, Supervision I
ELAD 543, The Clinical Supervisor
ELAD 622, School Finance

III Field Experience (6 Credits)
ELAD 615, Supervised Field Experience in Administration and Supervision; or
ELAD 616, Internship in Administration and Supervision

ADMISSION

All candidates must meet the basic admissions requirements for graduate study at Montclair State.  The completion of a major from an accredited college or university is preferred.  Candidates with degrees in closely related areas will be considered, although prematriculation coursework may be required.

DEADLINES

Credentials are processed as soon as they are received.  This program does not have a specific deadline; however, the Office of Graduate Admissions & Support Services recommends that students submit their credentials as far in advance as possible for the semester they plan to begin their studies to ensure a timely review of their application.
