Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Studio Art

ADMISSIONS

Application Deadline

Montclair State University has a rolling admissions policy, which means that applications are processed as soon as they are received. The Office of Graduate Admissions & Support Services recommends, however, that applicants submit their portfolio and credentials packet as far in advance as possible before the semester they plan to begin their studies to ensure a timely review of their application.

Pre-Admit Deadline

For priority consideration and early pre-admittance to the MFA in Studio program, applicants must submit their materials by January 23rd.

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the program will be expected to possess a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Studio, Fine Arts, or discipline related subject; or an undergraduate degree with a minimum of 40 SH of studio course work; or an MA in Studio Art. Prerequisites also include a minimum of 15 credits in art history. The applicant's ability, ambition and motivation as an artist, as well as competence in the history of art, are primary considerations in the admissions decision.
