University receives $399,101 HUD grant
The University has been awarded a $399,010 grant by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to establish a Community Outreach Partnership Center (COPC) in Montclair. (Full Story and Photo)


UNICO National and MSU to establish endowed chair

UNICO National, the largest Italian-American service organization in the United States, will join with Montclair State in raising $1.25 million to establish an endowed chair in Italian and Italian-American Studies. (Full Story)

Weston program gives science scholars a head start

Concluding a five-week summer exploration of hands-on scientific investigation, ninth and 10th graders from Montclair High School gave high marks to the Weston Science Scholars Program, an initiative that exposed them to a variety of disciplines from astronomy to molecular biology and forensic medicine. Professor receives honorary degree for curriculum
For the past 14 years, Eva Goldfarb has devoted her time and study to the field of human sexuality. Her efforts were lauded recently when she received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from the Starr King School for the Ministry, the seminary for the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) in Berkley, Calif. Give her a hand...and some soap!
Graduate student Michele Samarya-Timm admits there are those who consider her "a bit paranoid" when it comes to cleanliness. She counters, however, that her preoccupation is predicated on a health education background that has focused on food safety. The consumer concern Samarya-Timm refers to as her passion got some healthy recognition in March when she won the gold medal in the world's only international hand-washing competition.
