October is open enrollment month
The state health benefits open enrollment period began Oct. 1 and will end Oct. 31. During open enrollment, employees may enroll in any of the plans offered, change to a different health and/or dental plan, or add eligible dependents not previously enrolled.

This is also the time to enroll in the Tax Save program, which includes the Unreimbursed Medical and Dependent Care Spending Account.

There is no premium cost to employees who enroll in NJ Plus. Employees will pay 5 percent of the premium cost if enrolled in an HMO and 25 percent of the premium cost if enrolled in the Traditional Plan.

Applications for coverage changes are available in the Human Resource Office, College Hall, Room 313.


University hosts international computing conference
The International Conference on Computing and Information Technologies (ICCIT) 2001 will bring together academics, computer and information scientists, engineers and applied mathematicians to exchange views and ideas on computing sciences and computer technology.

The all-day conference will be held Friday, Oct. 12, in the Student Center.

The conference will feature 60 international presenters and a Technology Exploratorium, which will be open to the campus community from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lofti Zadeh of the University of California at Berkeley, will give the keynote speech, "Toward an Enlargement of the Role of Natural Languages in Information Processing, Decision and Control."

Sixteen sessions, each including multiple presentations are scheduled.

The conference was organized to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the University's B.S. and M.S. degrees in computer science. Co-sponsors include the World Scientific and Engineering Society, the International Technology Institute, the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Women in Computing, in cooperation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' Northern New Jersey Section, and the Association for Computing Machinery-SIGSCE.
