President Cole participates in international trade mission
President Susan A. Cole was part of a delegation last month, led by U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine and former New Jersey Gov. Thomas Kean, seeking to expand the state's business opportunities in Belgium and the Netherlands. The five-day trade mission was organized by the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and included 40 members from business, academe and government.

The group attended meetings in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Leiden in the Netherlands, and Brussels in Belgium, in an attempt for New Jersey companies to identify new global markets. The industry sectors targeted include pharmaceutical/life sciences, chemical, information technology, telecommunications, environmental technology and port-related industries. Among the major corporations participating in the mission were Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Co., Pfizer Inc., Schering-Plough Corp. and Verizon.

According to reports, the Netherlands and Belgium were New Jersey's 11th and 9th largest trade markets and combined, purchased more than $1 billion of New Jersey products.

Employee Charitable Campaign announces results
The Employee Charitable Campaign Coordinating Committee reports that MSU employees contributed $15,170 to nonprofit organizations serving a host of communities throughout the state of New Jersey during the 2004-2005 campaign. This represents an 83-percent increase over the amount contributed by MSU employees last year. In addition, 46 employees made contributions this year, a 35-percent increase over the 34 employees who made contributions last year.

Library Services to conduct survey
In an effort to understand users' perceptions and expectations of Sprague Library, Library Services will conduct a quality survey. The survey is administered across the nation by the Association of Research. In New Jersey, several academic libraries are also administering this survey to their faculty, students and staff.

Library Services is asking faculty and staff to take the time to complete the survey. Based on past experience, it takes an average of 13 minutes to complete the form. This survey is important because it will help Library staff better understand how the Montclair State community rates library services; allow Library Services to benchmark MSU results against other libraries to determine best practices; and let Library Services know where to concentrate service improvements for users.

If you have any questions about the survey, e-mail
libqual@mail.montclair.edu or for more information on the survey, visit http://library.montclair.edu/Rodriguez/LibQUALFAQ.html.
