Medical care is not provided publicly by the U.S. government and can be extremely expensive.

Another important thing you should do soon after you move to the U.S. is find health insurance. Health insurance may seem like an unnecessary expense, but you must remember that in the U.S., doctors and hospitals can be extremely expensive. It is a good idea to take advantage of the health insurance plans that are available to you as an international student.

Health insurance is mandatory for all full-time undergraduate and graduate students at Montclair State University. The university offers a student health insurance policy through United Healthcare, which provides basic coverage.

For more information about available health insurance plans, please visit www.montclair.edu/health/HC/insurance.html.

Montclair does not endorse any particular health insurance provider for international students.
