Culled from the lives of the actors themselves, "Amajuba" is the impacting dramatization of five young people's stories about growing up in the violent and impoverished world of apartheid era South Africa. These survivors offer vivid and immediate accounts of the struggles through hardship against all odds with a potent mix of story, song, prayer, resilience and a spirited determination to move forward. With a heartfelt nod to 'the countless stories that will never be told", Amajuba is ultimately about putting an uneasy past to rest and embarking towards a future of possibility through the regeneration of the soul.
"Mime, singing, dance and dialect -- a Xhosa lament here, a Setswana prayer there -- combined in a vibrant staging by Yael Farber" -- The Times, London
"Amajuba was cheered to the rafters" -- The Guardian
