About Alexander Kasser Theater

Dean Drummond, co-director of Newband, and three-time Obie award-winner Bob McGrath, artistic director of The Ridge Theater explore composer and inventor Harry Partch's seminal work. Partch was a true musical maverick of the 20th century, composing sensually alluring and emotionally powerful music for the instruments he designed and built. Oedipus features voice, traditional western instruments, and several of Partch's own creations from the Harry Partch Instrumentarium, which is housed at MSU in The Harry Partch Institute, located in the Kasser Theater.
