Montclair State University is on Valley Rd. and Normal Ave., Montclair, N.J., one mile south of the junction of Routes 3 and 46.

By public transportation from:

(NOTE: Not all trains stop at both the Montclair Height and Montclair State University stations but all trains stop at either one or the other. Please check the schedule for the Montclair-Boonton line at www.njtransit.com for specific timetable and itinerary planning).

New York City (by Midtown Direct train): From Penn Station in New York, take Midtown Direct’s Montclair-Boonton line train to Montclair State University train station or Montclair Heights Train station. (Some runs require a transfer at the Newark/Broad Street station). From the Montclair State University train station, take the university shuttle bus from train station to campus core.

New York City (lower Manhattan): Take the PATH train from the World Trade Center to Hoboken. Transfer to NJ TRANSIT Montclair-Boonton line in Hoboken. Travel the Montclair-Boonton line to Montclair State University train station or Montclair Heights Train station). From the Montclair State University train station, take the university shuttle bus from train station to campus core.

New York City (by bus): DeCamp Bus No. 66 departs NYC from the Port Authority Bus terminal. Disembark at Montclair State University stop.

Newark (by bus): NJ TRANSIT’s Bus No. 28 originates at Washington and Hill Streets, then travels through Bloomfield, Cedar Grove, and Montclair to Montclair State University.

Passaic (Main Avenue Bus Terminal): NJ TRANSIT Bus 705 travels from Passaic through Clifton to Montclair State University
Wayne (Willowbrook Mall): Buses 28 and 705 originate at Willowbrook Mall form the west, travel through Little Falls to Montclair State University.

New York City (by Bus)
 DeCamp Bus No. 66 leaves from the Port Authority Bus Terminal and drops you off on campus near College Hall.  If the bus is not going all the way to campus, get off at Mt. Hebron and Valley roads, turn right (north) on Valley, and walk one block to the Normal Avenue traffic light, then turn left to campus entrance.  For a detailed schedule.

Newark:
 NJ Transit Bus No. 28 originates at Macy's, Washington and Hill Streets, and terminates its run on campus.

Paterson:
 NJ Transit Bus No. 705 travels from Main Street and Broadway in Paterson. Or, NJ Transit Bus No. 72 originates at Broadway Terminal, Paterson, and goes to Broad Street, Bloomfield. Change to No. 28 at Bloomfield Center.

The Oranges:
 Take One Bus Co. No. 44 to Main and Day streets in Orange.  Connect to NJ Transit Bus No. 92 to Glenwood and Bloomfield avenues.  Change to NJ Transit Bus No. 28.

Passaic:
 NJ Transit Bus No. 705 originates at Main Street and Passaic Avenue in Passaic and travels through Clifton to Montclair State University.

Wayne:
 NJ Transit Bus No. 705 originates at Willowbrook Mall and travel to Montclair State University.

Newark Airport

It would be ideal to have someone drive you to and from the airport, but if there are no other means, our advice on the easiest way to get to and from the airport is by taxi.  An approximate price to Newark Airport from MSU is approximately $40-45, not including tolls or tip.
