The Department of University Communications won seven Platinum and four Gold MarCom Awards in an annual competition through the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The department also received four honorable mentions.

Montclair magazine took MarCom's highest honors, receiving Platinum awards for overall quality for both its Spring 2014 and Fall 2014 issues. The magazine also took both Platinum and Gold awards for writing, photography and design. In the last few years, the association has consistently recognized the quality of the magazine, which is distributed to about 130,000 University alumni, faculty, staff and friends.

In addition, this year, for the first time, the University also received awards in the categories of Public Relations, President's Annual Report, Design and Web Landing Page.

"We are proud to receive this kind of recognition from our peers," says Jack Shannon, vice president of University Advancement. "These are highly competitive awards that represent some of the very best work being done in marketing and communications by organizations around the world."

Open to those involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio and web materials and programs, the MarCom Awards is the largest competition of its kind. This year, it received approximately 6,000 entries from 50 states and 34 countries.
