| The Web at Montclair State University
Our Web presence is a vital asset to our University, its image and its identity. It is often the first contact we have with prospective students, faculty and staff. It is sometimes the sole means of connection we have with an audience. The Web has become a primary means of outreach to both prospective and current members of our campus community in many areas. Therefore it is essential we provide a unified Web experience for all our audiences, through identity, design, navigation, accessibility and reliability. A good MSU Web experience is a good MSU experience!
Image and Branding
A "brand" is the proprietary visual, emotional, rational, and cultural image one associates with a company, product and, in this case, our university -- Montclair State University. To reinforce our brand identity, we must be consistent in the themes, graphics and ideas we present via the Web, as well as in our print and other visual materials.
The Montclair State University brand is unique in New Jersey. It is based on the idea of a large and still growing university dedicated to providing attention to the individual student; an institution with the attributes of a large university--outstanding faculty doing important research, wide variety of course offerings, and top-notch resources for learning--and the advantages of a student-centered learning environment.
Creating such a Web page requires a considerable amount of investigation, planning and continual evaluation. The office of Web Services, a department within University Advancement's Office of Communications, is responsible for the University's Web presence and available to support academic and administrative departments and individuals in the development of their Web presence.
Standards
