A Capital Idea: New Course Takes Students Behind the Scenes at the State House in Trenton
The course is led by Professor Sal Anderton, an attorney and legislative director of Porzio Governmental Affairs, who has served as legislative counsel for the New Jersey Department of Labor and for a member of the New Jersey General Assembly.
The upper level course, Selected Topics in Political Science (POLS-416-05), will give students a rare opportunity to personally observe and gain first-hand knowledge and experience of the legislative process of state government.
When in Trenton, the class will attend voting sessions and committee hearings and meet cabinet members and legislators. Classroom discussions on the day’s hot political topics will feature visits from legislators, lobbyists, and heads of state governmental agencies.
The class will meet on Mondays with trips to the Capitol alternating with classroom sessions on campus. While the University will arrange travel, students must be able to spend a full day in Trenton at least two Mondays a month.
Enrollment is limited, so register today for this exciting experience and new course.
