A 5,000 meter run will be held on the grounds of the Montclair Art Museum on October 7th, 2012 in memory of Doug M. Williams, School of Business class of 1985.
Doug Williams was tragically struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident while walking home on October 9th, 2011. He was only 49 years old. Williams was a life-long figure in the Montclair community. He graduated from Montclair High School and went on to study business at Montclair State University, after which he began a 25-year career at Milliman, Inc.
Williams was a passionate runner. He participated in organized runs throughout the country, including six full-length marathons. His friends and fellow runners have organized the run as a way to honor him and keep his memory alive through philanthropy. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Doug M. Williams 5000m Memorial Run Scholarship Fund, which will help a local student study business at Montclair State University next fall.
The Scholarship was created with the Montclair State University Foundation. For more information about the Montclair State University Foundation, visit montclair.edu/giving.
